1. Who we are
This policy describes how the Video Compressor Android app (“the App”) handles information. The App is a local video compression tool for Android. It does not require an account and does not provide cloud compression.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, upload, or have access to:
- Your video files or compressed output
- Photos, contacts, location, or call logs
- Your name, email, or other account identifiers (the App has no login)
- Payment information
3. Information processed on your device
The following is processed only on your device so the App can work:
- Videos you select. Used to estimate size, compress, preview, and save or share. Files stay on the device.
- Compression history. Saved locally so you can review past jobs (file names, sizes, preset, timestamps, and optional file URIs).
- Favorites and settings. Preferred presets, language, default quality, and favorite videos are stored locally.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, the App may show compression progress and completion status.
You can clear compression history in the App. Uninstalling the App removes App-stored settings and history. Videos already saved to your gallery remain until you delete them yourself.
4. Permissions
The App requests only what it needs:
- Video / media access — to list videos on the device, read files you choose to compress, and save results to the gallery when you tap Save.
- Notifications (optional) — to show progress and completion while compression runs in the background.
You can deny or revoke permissions in Android Settings. Some features (scanning the library or background alerts) will not work without the related permission.
5. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your videos with third parties. If you use Share in the App, the file is sent only to the app you pick (for example a messaging app), under that app’s own policy.
The in-app “cloud backup” shortcut only opens Google Drive in your browser or the Drive app. The App does not upload videos to Google Drive or any other cloud service for you.
The App currently does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs that send data to our servers. If that changes, this policy will be updated before those features are enabled.
6. Children’s privacy
The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. International users
Because video processing happens on your device and we do not operate a backend for your content, we do not transfer your videos to other countries. Local settings and history remain on the device unless you back up the device through Android system backup.
8. Your choices
- Choose which videos to compress; we never scan or upload them to our servers.
- Delete history entries or compressed files from the App or your gallery.
- Turn off notifications or media permission in system settings.
- Uninstall the App at any time.
9. Data safety summary (Google Play)
- Data collected: none from your videos; no account data.
- Data shared: none by the App itself.
- Data encrypted in transit: not applicable for video files (they are not transmitted by us).
- You can request deletion of App-stored history by clearing it in the App or uninstalling.
10. Changes
We may update this policy if the App’s behavior changes. The “Effective date” at the top will be revised. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
